Covid-19 Policy

First and foremost, please keep yourself and all those around you as safe as possible, please follow the government guidelines with diligence and encourage all others to do the same. We need to support our NHS and give them a chance of success in the current crisis.

All areas of EVGC are closed completely, and anyone who requires access to any of the facilities should contact the Club Chairman who will arrange a safe time when others are not present.

All present Members will continue to be members until the end of this crisis, (unless we have been informed otherwise) there is no need to convert to social or worry about any consequence of not renewing your membership at this time.

We have asked members to pay their 2020/21 subscriptions, and stated we will credit the lost time in 2021. Other payment options will also be made available, we will pro-rata from when we re-open and there will be a payment scheme by instalments (details to be confirmed).

England Golf and the Green Keepers Association have agreed with the government that Golf Clubs can carry out only essential maintenance work on golf courses, this is defined on their website and we will and have to comply with this definition. Whereas this will maintain the course and we will do everything we can to ensure we prepare for summer, there will be work to do when the message to reopen is received. We will do this as quickly as we can -obviously, we all want to be out playing.

We will review and decide how we move forward this year when we know how long this lockdown will be in place for, we are a competitive golf club and we understand club competitions, matches of all sorts are both enjoyable and the reason why a lot of members join EVGC. We will do our best to restore these at the right time and in line with the government guidelines.

Club Finance.

Clearly a difficult and worrying time for any business, including EVGC, we have no income coming in from visitors, functions or bar and catering, and we still have significant expenditure to maintain the club and the course.

The policy and actions we have implemented over the past 6 years, along with the governments financial support packages, does put us in a reasonable position to ride this crisis and come out the other side with a healthy club. This, of course, as a members club does need your support.

More precisely; We have a policy of buying and not leasing the course hardware (mowers etc) so we have no lease agreements to pay, the land is owned by us (in Trust) so no rent to pay, we cleared the debt to the bank, we have a very manageable members loan scheme, we did create cash from the development of the practice area and we are prudent with our budgets and spending.

We will pay the money we have committed to spend, the driving range cladding, the blockwork, the invoices which come in for routine items, we will pay the members who we agreed to pay back in March after the first 3 year loan scheme, we will purchase the semi-rough cutter we promised, we will and are supporting all the staff, including the professional. We will delay some of the driving range activity, we are committed to complete this as soon as possible.

We will continue to be a caring employer and a moral business which honours our commitments, we will continue to make the best decisions we can for you the members and EVGC as a whole.
